14 Dec - Qiu Bin's Bronze Medal
I fell into a restless sleep last night, wondering what exactly happened back home throughout the week. Still, it has been a long time since he sounded so helpless. Nonetheless, Kiok took this picture of me, hoping to cheer me up a little. Other producers carry tripods, but I chose to carry the camera. On the way to the Aspire Hall, Muneer took a wrong turn and we ended up in some dirt track. It took 15 minutes for him to get us out of the dirt track. Any longer, I will get carsick. Kiok finally understand why I looked so tired everytime I come back from filming.

Kiok was all so excited at the Aspire, taking pictures and watching the athletes executed their moves for the judges. She too, became a "judge", telling me the score she would have awarded to each of the performance. It was the final day of the Wushu competition. Goh Qiu Bin will be awarded his bronze medal today and I had to be there to wrap up Wushu for Team Singapore.
During the medal ceremony, she became the translator for one of the local reporter who doesn't understand Mandarin. She told me later, that was her "retribution" for asking the reporter to take a picture with her. Kiok thought the reporter look like Otheli Edwards.
Using only Wushu's team manager Ng Kim Foo's interview and Qiu Bin's soundbite, this was my last story for this Asian Games. I think I will be place in-charge of Wushu in next year's SEA Games. Well, I did learn Wushu in half a day!
It was a mad rush to the superstore to do some shopping for Alvin. I bought a white polo t-shirt for myself. Waited for either Aunty or Kiok to be with me before deciding on the size. Don't trust Gan Di's judgement on my size. I wrote the script on the way back, as Kiok continued her "tourist work" - taking pictures. I showed her the Athletes' Village, the University along the way. The moment I stepped into the IBC, Alvin asked me what did Kiok buy? Did she buy the whole store? Hahaha! The tag of shopping aunty is hard to shake off. I realised it was tough reading my own handwriting with Muneer's "Schumacher" driving skills. Still, I managed to finish my story in 30minutes. The mood was quite relaxed on the last day of the show.

Prem was the busiest, as the sailors would be awarded their medals. It was a record! Five golds, three silvers and two bronzes! There was a press conference to be covered. Everyone was upbeat about today's show. Afterall, it would be the last time we are doing this here.
Alvin showed the last race of the sailing event on the live belt. He got seasick even by watching the race on-air! Halid had to censor out all the @#$%^^#@ vocally expressed by our sailors. It was the right plan to telecast the sailing event. PM Lee watched it at home and mentioned about it. In addition, he showed almost all the wrestling finals. Kiok and I simply had no idea why are some people so keen on wrestling? They are all smelling each other's backside only what??!! Nice meh??
Prem was assigned to do the Men’s football bronze medal match between Iran and Korean. While waiting for KO, he was hanging around watching the Indian’s athletes running. He started his own commentary with an Indian accent, cheering on the India’s athletes. “RUN! RUN! Why you fell? Must be the Chinese!” Wendy and I were roaring with laughter in the room as she compiled TAG while I typed the supers. But he couldn’t laugh later as the mtach went into extra-time with both sides failing to score. When the Iranians finally scored in the 2nd-half of extra-time, Prem shouted "GO IRAN!" and to us, he said "Bring on those pistachio nuts!" (Our neighbours was from Iran)
While everyone was planning to go shopping tomorrow, Kiok's instructions was sent out loud and clear - Shaffique will be Wendy's driver tomorrow as she is the only person who has yet to step out of the IBC, other than going back to the apartment. She will do her shopping tomorrow, and we girls will do a bit of sightseeing in the morning.
There was a lot of supers to be done today. When I finally completed everything, I was surprise to see that it was 6.15pm. I shouted for Kiok, as she slowly strolled in. I asked her for the medal tally, she said "aiyoh, lai liao!". Whow! She getting into her routine!
Later on panel, Alvin brought in his laptop and we started msn Junior. Out of the blue, I asked her is there any interesting events that happen lately? Well, if things have been happening in Doha, more interesting/worrying stuff have been going on back home. I had to really force myself to focus on the work on hand after getting the news from Junior.
Shit! All the on-goings back home were certainly not looking good. If things were bad for me here when Alvin was not around, it was a hundred times worse for him back home. And for the rest of the night, I can't do my work properly, and I refused to get to sleep. Tossing and turning, bringing another two pillows into the room, and I made Kiok so frustrated that she took out her camera and took pictures of me trying to sleep, buried into five pillows! Hahaha!
